北風と太陽
The North Wind and The Sun
「おれの方が強い。」
"I am stronger."
「いいや、ぼくの方が強い。」
"No, I'm stronger."
北風と太陽の声が聞こえます。
You can hear the north wind and the voice of the sun.
二人はどちらの力が強いかでケンカをしているようです。
It seems that the two are fighting for their strength.
「太陽が毎日元気だから、暑くてみんな困っているよ。
"Since the sun is fine every day, everyone is in trouble because it is hot.
おれが涼しい風を吹くと、みんな嬉しそうだ。
Everyone seems happy when I blow a cool breeze.
おれの方がみんなの役に立っているよ。」

「でも、ぼくがいないと、木や野菜は育たないよ。

冬は北風の吹く風が冷たくて、とても寒かった。

二人は毎日ケンカをしていました。

ある日、北風はいつものように言いました。

「ケンカは終わりにしよう。おれの方が強いんだから。」

太陽もいつものように言います。
The sun also says as usual.
「うん、ケンカは終わりにしよう。けど、僕の方が強いと思うよ。」
"Yeah, let's end the fight. But I think I'm stronger."
その日もケンカは終わりそうにありません。
The fight is unlikely to end that day as well.
そのとき、北風はマントを着た若い男が歩いているのを見つけました。
At that time, Kitakaze found a young man in a cloak walking.
北風は言いました。

「あの人のマントをどちらが早く脱がせることができると思う？これでどちらが強いかを決めよう。

強ければ簡単にマントを脱がせることができるはずだ。」

二人は男のマントを脱がせることにしました。

北風はそう言って、強い風を吹きました。

男は急に吹いた強い風におどろきました。

北風はどんどん風を吹きます。

風を吹いて、マントを飛ばすつもりです。

「寒い！どうして急に風が強くなったんだ？」

男はそう言うと、もう一枚マントを出して、急いで着ました。
The man said, put out another cloak and put it on in a hurry.
北風は二枚のマントを脱がせるために、もっと強く風を吹きました。
The north wind blew harder to remove the two cloaks.
男はマントが飛ばないように、しっかりと手で持ちました。
The man held it firmly in his hand to prevent the cloak from flying.
北風がいくら強く風を吹いても、男は一生懸命手でマントを持っています。
A man holds his cloak with all his might, no matter how hard the north wind blows.
北風は言いました。
North wind said.
「だめだ。おれの力ではマントを脱がせることができない。」
"No. I can't remove the cloak with my power."
「じゃあ、次はぼくがやってみるよ。」
"Then I'll try next."
太陽はそう言うと、ゆっくりと男を照らしました。
The sun said, slowly illuminating the man.
「あぁ、やっと暖かくなった。」
"Oh, it's finally getting warmer."
太陽が出てきたので、男は少し安心したようです。
The man seems a little relieved because the sun has come up.
男はマントを手で持つのをやめました。
The man stopped holding the cloak in his hand.
次に、太陽は照らす力を少し強くしました。
Next, the sun made the power to illuminate a little stronger.
「ちょっと暑くなってきた。」

男はそう言うと、マントを一枚脱ぎました。
The man said he took off one of his cloaks.
「よし、今だ！」

太陽は男がマントを脱ぐのを見て、照らす力をもっと強くしました。
When the sun saw a man take off his cloak, he made the light stronger.
「暑い。
"hot.
急に暑くなってきた。」

男はそう言って、もう一枚のマントも脱ぎました。
The man said, and took off another cloak.
「やった！」
太陽は喜びました。
The sun was pleased.
それから、太陽は力を弱くして、やさしく男を照らし続けました。
Then the sun weakened and continued to gently illuminate the man.
北風はおどろきました。
The north wind was amazing.
太陽がマントを簡単に脱がせたからです。
Because the sun could easily take off the cloak.
おれの風では脱がせることが出来なかったのに、なぜ太陽はマントを脱がせることができたんだ？太陽は言いました。
Why was the sun able to take off my cloak when I couldn't take it off with my wind? Said the sun.
「北風は男の気持ちを考えていなかったよね？力を使うだけだと人は動かないよ。
"The North Wind didn't think about the man's feelings, he said, "If you just use your power, people won't move.
人の気持ちを考えないといけないんだ。」

北風はそれを聞いて、言いました。
North wind heard and said it.
「わかった。君はおれより強いよ。」

とうとう二人の長かったケンカは終わりました。
Finally, the long fight between the two is over.
人に何かをさせるときや、お願いするときは、北風のように力を見せるだけではうまくいきません。
When letting people do something or asking, it is not enough to show power like the north wind.
太陽のように人の気持ちを考えることが大切です。
It is important to think about people's feelings like the sun.
